The fashion component of each fashion student’s portfolio is an extremely integral part of their overall university portfolio application process. When preparing a fashion portfolio it is imperative to choose a fashion arts school with a proven success record. Since as early as 1998, we have been successfully preparing students for the fashion, communications, and arts related programmes for North American colleges and universities, and we have achieved an absolutely incredible yearly acceptance rate of 97 to 100% into some of the most difficult post-secondary institutions in Canada and the United States. It is our personal mission to ensure that each and every one of our students’ portfolios STAND OUT amongst all other university and college applicants each and every year!
For aspiring young designers and artists, putting together a professional portfolio(s) can be quite overwhelming, but we take that fear away and turn it into a positive experience! We believe that portfolios should never be a burden to students. Instead, portfolios should be an act of exhilarating inspiration and passionate creation. To this end, all of the intermediate and advanced courses offered at our school work towards the specific pieces required by the universities and colleges for their entrance portfolios. In addition to this, just before portfolio submission due dates, workshops are offered where students will learn the specifics of actually putting the portfolio together in accordance with university requirements, the internal working aspects of the portfolio itself, and the background work (essays, proper process, forms, and professional presentation).
Our professional instructors work closely with each individual student, teaching, mentoring and guiding him through the entire portfolio development process, from inspiration and conception, to construction, to photography, to submission. In addition to this, Joanne Dice (owner, designer and portfolio specialist), personally works alongside each applying student helping them to tweak and perfect their portfolio essays, artist’s statements, and resumes, which are a significant component of each and every portfolio submission. Keeping in mind that the portfolio is the only obstacle which stands between each student and his or her university acceptance, it is imperative that each of our students submit the most professional portfolio possible. We are with our students every step of the way, ensuring that each and every submission piece is both creative and artistic, as well as presented in a professional manner.

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

In addition to our famous portfolio programmes, we also take care of all student portfolio photography. Twice yearly, we conduct professional portfolio photo shoots at various exciting and aesthetically beautiful venues throughout Vaughan and the City of Toronto, such as the Donald Grant House in Woodbridge and (our favourite) Black Creek Pioneer Village in North York. Our students must put together both their university and college portfolios as well as their personal portfolios. The best way to achieve this end is through professional photography. Each of our portfolio photos are made to look like professional magazine layouts, showcasing and highlighting our students’ work to its’ ultimate perfection. After all, a picture really is worth a thousand words!
