As a young child, I would sit and watch my Grandmother sew not only all of her clothes, but my mothers and mine as well. It wasn’t until she passed away that I began to become curious about how to sew. At age nine I completed my first outfit without any assistance. I had taught myself! As the years passed, my parents decided to put me into art and sewing classes. That is when I began my amazing journey with The Haute Couture Academy of Fashion, Fine Arts & Design. During my first year with Joanne, I had surpassed everyone’s expectations and quickly found myself immersed into intermediate classes. It wasn’t long after that I was moved into the advanced design programme.
After five years, and having completed the entire design programme (all levels of sewing, art, pattern making and draping) at the Haute Couture Academy, I enrolled into the George Brown College fashion programme. Because of my extensive and advanced design background, my fashion education at George Brown College was a breeze due to the knowledge I learned at the Haute Couture Academy. I am now an instructor at Haute Couture Academy, specializing in design instruction for children (ages 7 to 13).
