A graduate of Sheridan College, Ashley Grafe began teaching at Haute Couture Academy of Fashion, Fine Arts and Design in 2009. She specializes in fashion design, illustration, abstract painting, and comic book art, and is proficient in a variety of mediums including ink, markers, watercolour, acrylic, oils, charcoal, graphite, conti, coloured pencil, and airbrushing. She is a professional freelance artist and, along with her passion for art and fashion, Ashley is also a musician and singer/songwriter and has performed at many Toronto concert venues.
Ashley believes that everyone has creativity within them and that they should nurture their inner artist. “Whether you’re a painter, sculptor, baker, poet, or musician, you’re creating something. It’s so important to realize that about yourself, and to keep the artist alive within you.” She possesses the skills to cultivate passion and love for the arts in each of her students, and her objective as an art instructor is to help her students recognize their abilities, as she continually encourages and motivates them.
Ashley’s outgoing personality and avant-garde style inspire her students to think outside the box and create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces.
